Warrior Craft in Sculptural Form
A sculptural kabuto faithfully reproduced from the National Treasure armour dedicated to Kushihiki Hachiman Shrine in Aomori Prefecture.
The original Akaito-Odoshi Yoroi (Red-Laced Armour), dating from the medieval period, is celebrated as one of the finest surviving examples of Japanese armour. Adorned with chrysanthemum-engraved metal fittings on the helmet and shoulder guards, it is often referred to as the Kiku-Ichimonji Armour.
Regarded alongside the famed armour preserved at Kasuga Taisha as one of the twin masterpieces of extant Japanese armour, it represents the pinnacle of classical metalworking and ceremonial design.
Faithful Study and Reproduction
This piece has been meticulously recreated following on-site study of the original armour.
Measurements, proportions, and metal fittings have been carefully replicated to preserve structural integrity and historical accuracy. The chrysanthemum fittings — symbols of refinement and authority — are rendered with disciplined precision.
The result is not an interpretation, but a considered study in warrior craft.
Form and Authority
The red lacing creates rhythmic structure across the surface, binding strength with visual order. The silhouette is bold yet composed, revealing the architectural intelligence behind classical armour construction.
An expression of martial culture at its most refined.
